Instead of the slider, which can be extremely touchy, how about a grid of "die side" vs "number of dice" with any invalid options greyed out? Maybe need to scroll right for a bid a lot larger than the current bid, but that would probably be uncommon. 

When my friends and I played last night, managing the bid slider was the cause of us taking much longer on our turns than needed.
